Sternula albifrons
Little Tern is a small seabird that breeds on coasts and inland waterways of Europe, Asia, north and west Africa and eastern Australia, and winters in subtropical and tropical oceans as far south as South Africa and Australia. The subspecies sinensis is resident on the river systems of Pakistan and northern India, Sri Lanka and eastwards to south-eastern Asia, the Philippines and northern Australia. The North American and Red Sea forms are now treated as separate species (Wikipedia, general species account). (Wikipedia, general species account).
Like all white terns, it is defensive of its nest and young and will attack intruders. Only 15 pairs still breed on extensive sand or gravel banks along the border between Hungary and Croatia. The species is a small seabird of the family Laridae. It is widely distributed breeding on the coasts and inland waterways of Europe, Asia, north and west Africa, and eastern Australia.
