Habitat
Montane forest from about 600m to near the highest elevations
Range
Lompobattang Massif, southern Sulawesi
Size
About 11cm
The Lompobattang leaf warbler is an approximately 11 cm Phylloscopus with olive-washed brown upperparts and whitish to yellow-washed underparts. Its dark brown crown carries a broad pale yellowish central stripe, and a white or yellow-white eyebrow lies above dark lores and a narrow eye stripe. Pale tips on the greater coverts form a wingbar, while the outer tail feathers have broad white inner webs. The sexes look alike; juvenile plumage remains undescribed (BirdForum species account).
This insect-eating forest bird is confined to the Lompobattang Massif in southern Sulawesi, occupying montane forest from about 600 m to near the highest elevations. It was formerly combined with the Sulawesi leaf warbler under Phylloscopus sarasinorum, but vocal and taxonomic work supports treating the two separately. The Lompobattang species differs in its crown stripe, wingbar and greater amount of white in the tail. Nest, clutch and incubation information was not found (Forktail taxonomic study; Wikipedia general account).
