Habitat
Arboreal
Range
Sangihe Island, Indonesia
Size
12–13.5cm
The Sangihe hanging-parrot is a small, predominantly green parrot measuring 12–13.5 cm. Red marks the throat and rump, continues onto elongated upper-tail coverts and appears again at the tail tip. Its compact form and green plumage suit an arboreal bird moving among foliage. The species is confined to Sangihe, a small Indonesian island north of Sulawesi, and should not be assumed to occur on Sulawesi itself simply because it is included in the regional guide (Wikipedia general species account).
Like other hanging-parrots it is most naturally considered in the canopy, but the source opened supplies no dependable species-specific account of food, social organisation, nesting, clutch or seasonal movement. A population estimate appears in the Wikipedia text, but it derives from global conservation material and is intentionally excluded under this project’s source rules. The account therefore retains the identification, measurements, arboreal habit and exact island range that can be stated without importing unsupported biology from related Loriculus species (Wikipedia general species account).
