Collocalia esculenta
Glossy Swiftlet is a swift in the family Apodidae. It is shiny black-blue above, including the rump, and sometimes looks black and hooded, with a black chest and a white belly and flanks finely speckled with black at the margins. The species belongs to swift in the family Apodidae. The glossy swiftlet was described by the Swedish naturalist Carl Linnaeus in 1758 in the tenth edition of his Systema Naturae under the binomial name Hirundo esculenta. (Wikipedia, general species account).
The account used here gives its range as Sulawesi east to New Guinea, the Bismarck Archipelago and the Solomon Islands, so its status on Sumatra and the Malay Peninsula (where earlier lists use the name) is not covered (Wikipedia, general species account). It is found on the Indonesian island of Sulawesi and eastwards to New Guinea, the Bismarck Archipelago and the Solomon Islands. The type locality is Ambon Island, one of the Maluku Islands of Indonesia. (Wikipedia, general species account).
