Rhabdophis chrysargoides
Range
Java, Sulawesi and the Sangihe Islands
Günther's keelback is a natricine colubrid currently named Rhabdophis chrysargoides. It was first formally described in 1858 as Tropidonotus chrysargoides and later transferred to Rhabdophis. The scientific name combines Greek roots meaning gold and whitish and indicates a stated resemblance to R. chrysargos. Its preserved female holotype is held by the Natural History Museum collection in London (Reptile Database taxonomic account).
The species is recorded from Java, Sulawesi and the Sangihe Islands and lays eggs. The database specifically cautions that although some Rhabdophis are venomous, it has no such information for this particular species; no venom claim is therefore made here. The opened account also lacked a full diagnosis, habitat, diet, activity, adult length, clutch size and incubation period (Reptile Database).
