Range

Sulawesi and satellite islands

The pied cuckooshrike is a black-and-white member of Campephagidae endemic to Sulawesi and its satellite islands. Its accepted scientific name is Coracina bicolor, a name that likewise refers to the contrasting two-colour plumage. Current records include mainland Sulawesi and islands such as Kabaena, while a nineteenth-century specimen documents its former presence on Sangihe (IOC World Bird List; BirdLife DataZone distribution account).

Species accounts associate it with moist lowland forest and mangroves. A field report from Tangkoko described four birds vocalising together in treetops, supporting its use of the upper forest layers, but the opened literature provided no secure values for diet, clutch size or incubation. Those fields are left blank rather than extrapolated from other cuckooshrikes. It is resident rather than a regular migrant in current global compilations (Birdquest 2017; BirdLife DataZone).
