Habitat
Moist lowland forest
Range
Togian Islands, Indonesia
The Togian golden-bulbul is a passerine in the bulbul family found only in Indonesia’s Togian Islands. It occupies moist lowland forest. The bird was formerly included with five related island forms under the collective name northern golden-bulbul, but a taxonomic revision recognised the Togian population as Hypsipetes aureus. Earlier literature may therefore list it as Alophoixus aureus or treat it within a broader Alophoixus longirostris complex (Wikipedia general account; eBird taxonomic updates).
The sequence of checklist changes is important for interpreting older sightings: the northern golden-bulbul complex was split five ways in 2014, and the Togian bird was later moved from Alophoixus to Hypsipetes during broader checklist alignment. Its exact island range separates it from the Sangihe, Sula, Banggai, Halmahera and Obi golden-bulbuls. The sources opened did not provide a sufficiently detailed identification, voice, diet or breeding account, so none is assembled from the biology of those related island taxa (eBird taxonomy updates).
