The white-rumped triller is a sedentary Lalage endemic to Sulawesi. It belongs to the cuckooshrike family Campephagidae. Although its name highlights the white rump, a regional study cautions that the amount of white in the wing patch varies and overlaps with the sympatric white-shouldered triller, so photographs should not be identified from wing-patch extent alone. The accessible sources did not provide a complete sex-specific plumage diagnosis (Wikipedia account; regional Lalage study).
It occupies forest, open woodland, farmland and mangroves, including moist lowland forest. Ecological datasets classify it as a diurnal insect-eater that gleans invertebrates from trees. Comparative life-history values give a clutch of roughly two to three eggs, about 14 days of incubation and about 12 days to fledging, but these figures require confirmation against the underlying study before local application. Recordings document its song and calls at several Sulawesi sites (Oiseaux.net synthesis and sound archive).
