Basic stats

Habitat

Lowland and montane forest, especially 700–2,600m

Range

Sulawesi, Indonesia

The crimson-crowned flowerpecker is a small Dicaeum endemic to Sulawesi. Its English name identifies the crown colour, but the accessible species sources did not supply a complete adult or sex-specific plumage description, and no additional markings are inferred from photographs. The accepted scientific name is Dicaeum nehrkorni, published by Blasius in 1886, and the bird belongs to the flowerpecker family Dicaeidae (Wikipedia taxonomic account; Oiseaux.net species record).

It inhabits moist lowland and montane forest, with ecological summaries especially associating it with mountain forest from about 700 to 2,600 m. Sound archives document calls, but the source opened did not provide a usable transcription. Species-specific foods, foraging behaviour, nest structure, clutch and incubation were not available in the accessible accounts, so they remain unstated rather than being inferred from other Dicaeum flowerpeckers with better-known fruit and nectar diets (Wikipedia habitat account; Oiseaux.net ecological synthesis).
