Emoia caeruleocauda
Range
From eastern Indonesia and the Philippines across New Guinea to many Pacific islands
The Pacific bluetail skink is Emoia caeruleocauda, a widespread island skink whose name combines Latin terms for blue and tail. Its taxonomic history includes populations formerly called E. werneri and E. triviale. The modern catalogue notes that some photographs have been misidentified as this species, so the blue tail alone should not be treated as sufficient identification without accompanying structural characters (Reptile Database taxonomic account).
Its range extends from eastern Indonesia, including Sulawesi and the Moluccas, through the Philippines and New Guinea to numerous western and central Pacific archipelagos. The species lays eggs. The accessible database withheld the fuller diagnosis and supplied no dependable species-wide habitat, diet, activity, adult length, clutch or incubation information. These omissions are retained because its exceptionally broad range may contain ecological and geographic variation (Reptile Database).
