About 20g

The turquoise flycatcher, also called the island flycatcher, is a roughly 14 cm, 20 g Old World flycatcher. ITIS recognises Eumyias panayensis as a valid species. Geographic forms occupy different islands: septentrionalis and meridionalis occur in Sulawesi mountains, while other subspecies occur in the Moluccas and Philippines. An undescribed Taliabu population is provisionally associated with septentrionalis in one checklist (ITIS; BirdForum taxonomy account).

It is sedentary in mountain forest and woodland, mainly from about 600 to 2,150 m and often above 800 m. Ecological datasets classify it as an insect-eater that gleans invertebrates in trees. Field observations outside Sulawesi also record insect hunting in mossy forest and edge, sometimes in mixed flocks, but are not presented as Sulawesi-specific behaviour. The sources opened supplied no verified nest, clutch or incubation data (Oiseaux.net synthesis; BirdForum habitat account).
