Hebius celebicus
Range
Sulawesi and Sula, Indonesia
The Sulawesi keelback is a natricine colubrid currently named Hebius celebicus. It was originally described as Styporhynchus celebicus and later spent much of its taxonomic history in Tropidonotus or Amphiesma before a revision of Asian keelbacks placed it in Hebius. The preserved holotype came from Kendari in southeastern Sulawesi, and the accepted distribution also includes Sula (Reptile Database taxonomic account).
The species lays eggs. A modern elevational survey records it among Sulawesi's herpetofauna, but the opened database withholds the detailed diagnosis and gives no extractable habitat, diet, behaviour, adult size, clutch or incubation information. Those fields remain blank rather than being filled from other stream-associated Hebius, because the genus contains species with varied ecology and the available account does not directly document those traits here (Reptile Database reference list).
