Size

Holotype 59.7cm

The Sulawesi wolf snake, Lycodon stormi, is an endemic colubrid described by Oskar Boettger in 1892. The original holotype measured 59.7 cm, but it was later destroyed during the Second World War, leaving subsequent identification dependent on the published description and later comparative work. The species has no recognised subspecies in current catalogues, which also retain Sulawesi Wolf Snake as its English name (Boettger 1892; Reptile Database).

Records are restricted to Sulawesi, including survey literature from central parts of the island. The species is egg-laying, although accessible sources do not state a clutch size or provide dependable species-level diet and activity observations. Its name honours Hugo Storm, captain of the steamer Lübeck, who collected the type specimen during travel in Indonesia. Modern references retain it as a valid Lycodon (de Lang and Vogel 2005; Reptile Database).
