Pseudorabdion sarasinorum

Basic stats

Range

Sulawesi, Indonesia

Sarasin's reed snake is a calamariine colubrid endemic to Sulawesi. Friedrich Müller described it in 1895 as Agrophis sarasinorum; later systematic reviews transferred it to Pseudorabdion. The preserved holotype is held in Basel, and the recorded type locality is Mount Sudara in northern Sulawesi. Its name honours the Swiss zoologists and cousins Paul and Fritz Sarasin (Reptile Database taxonomic account).

The species lays eggs. The original genus Agrophis was said to differ from the American Geophis in its smaller front nasal scale, but modern taxonomy places this snake with Asian Pseudorabdion. The accessible account did not expose its full diagnosis and supplied no direct habitat, diet, activity, size, clutch or incubation values. These fields are omitted rather than inferred from other reed snakes (Reptile Database reference list).
