Rabdion forsteni
Habitat
Forest to about 1,830m
Range
Sulawesi, Indonesia
Forsten's pointed snake is a Sulawesi-endemic colubrid named for Dutch naturalist Eltio Alegondas Forsten. The accepted scientific name is Rabdion forsteni, first described in 1854. The accessible species account did not provide a dependable colour pattern, adult size or distinguishing scale formula, so identification details are not inferred from the recently described congener Rabdion grovesi (Wikipedia general account; Reptile Database listing).
It inhabits forest from low elevations to about 1,830 m and reproduces by laying eggs. The direct account contains no verified prey, foraging method, daily activity, shelter use, clutch size or incubation period. Because the species is known from a wide elevational span but sparse natural-history literature, the entry keeps the altitude and reproductive mode separate from untested assumptions about how it uses different Sulawesi forests (Wikipedia general species account).
