Ceyx fallax
Habitat
Tropical dry forest
Range
Sulawesi, Indonesia
The Sulawesi dwarf kingfisher is a small Ceyx kingfisher endemic to Sulawesi. It appears in literature under several English names, including Celebes forest kingfisher, blue-crowned kingfisher, Celebes dwarf-kingfisher and Celebes pygmy-kingfisher. Its accepted scientific name is Ceyx fallax. The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service maintains a taxonomy record for the species, but the accessible page supplied no descriptive measurements or field marks (Wikipedia account; U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service).
The verified natural habitat is tropical dry forest. A Sulawesi biodiversity survey records the taxon, but the accessible summary does not add dependable feeding or breeding detail. The sources opened did not establish prey, hunting height, relation to streams, nest-burrow placement, clutch or incubation, and these traits are not borrowed from the differently distributed oriental dwarf kingfisher. This entry consequently remains limited to directly sourced nomenclature, range and habitat (Wikipedia habitat account; Sulawesi biodiversity survey index).
