Range
Sulawesi, Taliabu, Salayar and Tanah Jampea

The Sulawesi myzomela is a 9–12 cm honeyeater. Males have a scarlet head, neck, breast and central stripe down the back, with black wings, tail and scapulars and pale grey-brown underparts. Females are brown above with red restricted to the forehead, face, chin and upper throat; juveniles resemble females. Geographic forms differ subtly in belly wash and wing colour (BirdForum account citing Handbook of the Birds of the World).
It occurs on Sulawesi, Taliabu, Salayar and Tanah Jampea. Birds mainly inhabit primary montane and tall secondary forest around 700–2,400 m on Sulawesi, with possible mangrove use. They take nectar in flowering trees, mistletoes and parasitic shrubs from the canopy and upper middle storey, moving singly, in pairs or small groups and sometimes joining mixed flocks. Food-related movements may occur, but breeding biology remains unknown (BirdForum general species account).
